The Ferrari 166 Inter

In 1948 Ferrari entered the Grand Tourer sports car market with the beautifully stunning 166 iner.  It was there first major production car, who’s parents – the 125 s  and ther 166 s racing cars – are apparent in the design. In The Paris Motor show, on October 6, 1949, the car debuted,  and soon the 2.0 L V-12 had orders. This car’s importance was that it attached notable engineers and auto-designers to Ferrari’s team. The car was made through 1968, and had various options and types. Among those are the GT, Sports, 2+2,  and America.

Enzo Anselmo Ferrari

Enzo Ferrari - Wheel of a racing car.jpg

Enzo Anselmo Ferrari was born 18 February 1898 in Modena, Italy. A WWI Veteran, a man of little education, but a man with ferrous passion for racing, would go on to shape the car world and supply it with such inspirational concepts that would both alter the worlds perception on what a car should be, and what competition should be launched against such ideas.

Enzo started his journey redesigning trunk bodies in to small passenger cars; not to long after, he moved on to racing with not much success until he joined the Alfa Romeo racing team.  His success with Alfa allowed him to form his own team, Scuderia Ferrari, for Alfa Romeo. This went on for little under a decade until Alfa fell under new management and he quit to start his own group, yet still being under contract, he had to design cars for Alfa for four years subsequent to his resignation.  Ferrari then organized a company Auto-Avio Costruzioni which supplied racing parts, yet by the time WW2 started he was forced to make equipment for Mussolini. It was not until after the war, sometime in 1947, that Ferrari S.p.A. – the legendary company – was formed.
